Produced by Comedy Central Films, distributed by Paramount Pictures and starring Parker, Stone, Mary Kay Bergman, Isaac Hayes, George Clooney, Brent Spiner, Minnie Driver, Eric Idle, Mike Judge, Deb Adair, Jennifer Howell, Dave Foley, Toddy Walters, Stewart Copeland & Nick Rhodes, the film received positive reviews from critics, with praise for its writing, soundtrack and themes. It went on to gross $83.1 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing R-rated animated film of all time, until it was surpassed by Sausage Party in 2016. The song "Blame Canada" earned Trey Parker and Marc Shaiman an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song.
